I am looking for information on members of the Cape Police (District 7??), primarily FHD Powell (possibly NCO). I have last contact being 1887 - possibly served in Anglo-Boer War possibly died Phokwane/Langeburg Rebellions (1896/97). Also information on Thomas Lane VC. Died 1889 in Kimberley.

Could this perhaps be Frederik Herbert Damayn Powell? if so this chap died in 1892 and as far as I can see, he is not on the roll for the CGHGS Medal. If he was in the CP at any time his attestation forms have not survived.

Thanks for the quick reply. This is diverging from Boer War information, but anything on his personal life or whether he served with Thomas Lane? Somehow my family landed up with all Lane's medals and I am trying to connect the dots?

Unfortunately I don't however, his death notice which is in Cape Town will, I am sure, shed some light on his personal life.
