Today whilst looking through old newspapers I found a newspaper caption reporting the following

And what happened next? Seems unlikely that he would have escaped hanging, unless the judge and jury thought that provocation mitigated the deed.

This is a stroke of good fortune on your part! I always find that this adds to the story of the man (if not the value of the medals)
