This is a help question Im afraid. I have recently found the name of this soldier - George Howard Dawson. I am trying to find some means of confirming or otherwise whether he was born in New Zealand and his approximate date of birth before he served in the Border Horse.

If someone is able to look this up at Kew or could point me in the direction of where I may locate this information I would be very grateful.

Regards

Wayne

I would start with WO126/5 if I were you, hopefully his paper may have survived, as I suggested the last time you asked.

Thank you for that helpful advice.

Regretfully as I am based in New Zealand I am reliant on the generosity of a researcher at Kew to check this detail for me.

Many thanks

Wayne

Professional researchers are just that, although, I don't think they are known for their generosity! :)

A brief look at WO100/273 also confirms that he served in the South African Constabulary too so you will need another researcher in addition to the one in Great Britain.
