Lance Corporal Frank Mortimer 3242 1st Bn Border Regiment


This is the only Boer war casualty that is remembered in Cockermouth cemetery.

Frank died of dysentery on the 27th February 1900.

Frank is remembered on his uncles headstone.
Very hard to make out due to the headstone being very poor.

A letter that Frank sent to his uncle and posted in The West Cumberland Times dated 13th December 1899.

Went today and placed a cross to the remembrance of Frank today on his uncles headstone.
