Seeking any information on Arthur Edward Mainwaring ( A. E. Mainwaring)
who fought with the Royal Dublin Fusilers. He was my Grandfather.

There was a Captain A. E. Mainwaring in the 2nd Bn. Royal Dublin Fusilers. WO 100/269 shows his QSA having three clasps: CC, OFS, & TVL. WO 100/347 shows he got the KSA (SA 1901 & SA 1902 clasps). I can't quite make it out because there is some water damage to the margin of the paper but it looks like he had been posted to the 3rd Roy. Dub. Fusiliers at that time (11-5-1903).

Cheers,

Mark

If you search the site, there are several references to him.

He also co-authored this book: www.angloboerwar.com/books/77-romer-the-.../1581-romer-contents

As an officer you should be able to find out a lot about him.

Best wishes
David

In 1908, Mainwaring co-authored the following book:

'The Second Battalion Royal Dublin Fusiliers in the South African War' by Major C F Romer and Major A E Mainwaring. London: A L Humphreys (1908).

It is an excellent record of one of the most outstanding regiments of the Boer War.

This book was reprinted by The Naval & Military Press ( www.naval-military-press.co.uk )several years ago and I purchased my copy from them.

Brett,

I think our responses must have crossed in the electronic post, so to speak.

Best wishes
