That looks to be a most interesting book. Thank you for bringing it to our attention. I almost wish that the Imperial Yeomanry was included in my diverse interests.

Brett

Morning Brett,
I rather think it should be included in your interests, they had a very attractive badge and had a very considerable amount of work to do, given the disproportionate number of IY who really should not have even thought about going to South Africa, let alone, actual active service.
Kind regards Frank

I do have two IY QSA's in my collection, both to men who settled in Natal after the war. They are:

QSA (five clasps) to 26582 Tpr J Richards, 57 Buckinghamshire Coy, who went on to serve as a Seaman in the Natal Naval Corps during the 1906 Natal Rebellion.

QSA (five clasps) to 8236 Pte E P Hill, 31st Coy, who joined the Natal Police and who went on to serve in the SA Mounted Rifles. Below is a photo of his medals.

Regards
Brett

Hello Brett,
A very nice group indeed, I do like the 1906 in particular, what I meant was you should get a couple of medals to the IY Hospital given your recent collecting trend.
Kind regards Frank

So far I have managed to resist the temptation of crossing the Drakensberg in search of new collecting areas. Also, I have put the medical professions on the back burner, although a QSA to a Natal nurse would bring that interest to the boil in a moment.
Regards
Brett

PS I have always liked Natal Rebellion medals. It was the Colony of Natal's only 'war' fought alone (i.e. no Imperial assistance, but lots of Imperial criticism). It more or less pacified Zululand for 90 years.
