The last record I have found of the above is a letter he wrote to my Great Grandmother in NZ from Elandsontein, Johannesburg on 14th December 1901. I have no record of what regiment he was in. I don't believe he died in South Africa as the 1911 Census of his parents shows him living at the time.
Can anyone help me find out what regiment he may have been in through his location at this time or direct me to someone or a source who may be able to trace him.

Thanks to both of you for your helpful advise and the big list. Can you let me what other criteria may set him apart from those in the list provided. I understand at the time of the second Boer war only limited details of each soldier were recorded. He was born in Acton Beauchamp, Worcestershire on 22 May1878, the only other fact that I have is the Elandsfontein link. Do these facts reduce the list in anyway i.e were all regiments in action their or just a few of them. Obviously I am happy to go through one by one but just trying to eliminate some options. Are the records in the national archives able to assist?

You can remove W. Allen of the Cape Police District 1 from your list as he was born on the 31st May 1874 in MacLean in the Eastern Cape. Previous service with the Transkei Mounted Rifles.

Hi All I have been through the list and eliminated those that look unlikely at a glance. So from 182 possibles to 158 possible. There is only one W Allen on the list in the 6th Worcestershire Regiment. This person is not on Findmypast listings they had 110 W Allens an Ive been through all of these but none seem possible.

Sorry to be a pain but would someone help me with following this lead up.
