Mike,

There are a few J Carlisles on the medal rolls but none that would not have a unit added to their name as I presume you have with this QSA?

I also checked the naval rolls and found nothing there.

Is the naming solely 'J Carlisle'?

Kind regards
David

Some time ago I ran across a no-bar QSA impressed enigmatically "J.A.Worsley". Happily, it came with a copy of the roll page titled "Civilian Officials"; he was a Veterinary Officer. WO100/230. Is it possible that your "J.Carlisle" could be on a "Civilian Officials" roll?
Wish I could help more!
Regards
IL.

Linesman J Carlisle is very clearly shown WO100/279 page 150 with the attached detail, the entry prepared by the GPO Cape Town and dated the 28th of June 1905.

Good Morning Everyone......

Thank You David, Linney and Frank.....

So he was a Linesman with the GPO.....

And I quote: "Accompanied Colonel Scobell's Column to relief of Jamestown and patrolled section of line while district was in disturbed state."

I will have to check David's, Important Decisions Book to see if there is any mention.....

It is interesting that the issue was 28th June 1905......

Thanks Again Everyone......

Mike

P.S. Going to estate sale this afternoon that is supposed to have a large number of medals, wish me luck.....

Mike,
To be quite clear, the roll page is dated the 28th of June 1905, this is not the date of the issue of the actual medal to Carlisle, the recipient was in the paid service of the Engineering Staff of the Department of Post and Telegraphs, Cape Colony which was, for official purpose, part of the General Post Office, notwithstanding, a very good and rather scarce, well earned medal, I would be absolutely delighted with it if I were you.
Regards Frank
