That might be a tricky one. The uniform is devoid of any insignia or markings of any kind.

Hopefully other members will be able to help.

I was hoping for a general opinion on the uniform, I think it could be Yeomanry?
Been browsing my "With the flag to Pretoria" books and noticed similar headwear.
Any thoughts anyone.

Hi Paul.....

Either Yeomanry or Mounted Infantry.....

The badge looks like a large one so my guess is that it could be one of the Scottish Mounted Infantry units.....

Then of course it could be a large badge from a South African unit.....

A knowledgable friend has added more information on this image, just wondering if anyone would like to respond to it.
"Yeomanry between 1899 and 1902. His early service dress jacket is typical of the Yeomanry Force. He is also wearing one of the Mills Company web bandoliers rather than the British mounted infantry's 1888 leather bandolier. The Canadian government paid for a large number of these (by contract) and it is possible that he is a Canadian. The British did not purchase so many and they were considered more of an experimental issue."
