Hi, I have the short service record of my great grandfather that states he served in the Boer war, I am unable to find reference to his name on this site.
his name Robert Ebbs service number 4954 he served on Saint Helena Island.

A question, is there any records showing servicemen who did not return to the UK?

There is still a long way to go before all the men who participated are listed on the site and your ggf is still missing.

In answer to your question, I don't know of such a list.

I am not sure if this will help you much? but I have this info available for the Military Archives sent to me by someone when I was researching the Natal Carbineers.

Quote "For information on soldiers serving in the Union Defence Force please contact , the Documentation Centre ( Department of Defence ) , [email protected] , telephone 012- 3394600, enquiries to : The Deputy Director , Documentation Centre" unquote.

This was back in 2009 so if you do use them I am not sure if phone number or email address, would still be valid.
