There is certainly a variety of naming styles to the RN. Do we need a new thread that is similar to the thread that is similar to the Colonial officer thread?

Such a thread could well throw up some variations. After all, it is all Knowledge. Need such a thread be restricted to Officers - or might it be for RN generally?
George
I really like RN QSAs as the research possibilities are often extensive. The seven-clasps to HMS Monarch (or really any ship) are really remarkable for the extent of active service they illustrate.
Best regards to both djb and Geroge!

IL,

That's a good point. I will create a thread for officer and another for men and NCOs.

I will be very interested to see the variety in styles that come back.

Best regards

I have been in contact with the original seller and have been able to procure the missing medals in Full Size and in Miniature..... He was not sure if they belonged to Hughes or not as they were un-named.....

DEFENCE MEDAL
1939-1945 WAR MEDAL
1897 JUBILEE MEDAL IN SILVER
LEGION OF HONOUR (CHEV.) (Very badly damaged)

In a way it is a reunite.......

Good Evening Everyone......

I can proudly say that this is no longer a broken group.......
I did the Jiffy Bag dance today on the arrival of the missing full size and miniatures.....
This included the rarer silver version of the 1897 Jubilee medal to a Naval Officer......
Thanks to a fellow member of the forum (Thanks Julian)......

From my count of the Admiralty roll I come up with the following: Royal Navy (including Coastguard): 1 gold clasp to 1887 medal, 14 silver clasps to 1887 medal, 270 silver medals. Royal Marines: 1 silver clasp to 1887 medal, 28 silver medals.
