I am adding biographical data from the attestation papers to the Wepener roll but I am struggling with some of the handwriting. Can anyone suggest what is being written here please?

1. 15 Duke of Cornwall ??

2. Dellangher, Wickern ____ Suffolk

3. Diginn Street, Verlands? ??

And I thought my handwriting was bad! Re the second example, could the address be "Wickam market, Suffolk"?
The first one looks to be "13 Duke of Cornwall" - but whatever "A.Y" denotes, it defeats me.
Best regards
IL.

David - LinneyI is correct about Wickham Market, Suffolk. The preceding word is Dallinghoo, a nearby village. £500,000's worth of Iceni gold coins were found in Dallinghoo in 2009.

Underneath 13 Duke of Cornwall it reads 2nd Cape Yeomanry so AY may be an abbreviation for something connected to the Yeomanry.

The other one looks like Newlands S. Afr. which is most likely the Newlands in Cape Town. I looked up a modern street map of Newlands online but couldn't find a street name that fitted.

Regards

David

I think the first one is the 13th Duke of Cornwall's Artillery Volunteers -- according to Wikipedia, they existed from 1862 to 1880.
