Yes, it does look like a 72. Thank you.

The nominal roll for the SALH ( www.angloboerwar.com/unit-information/so...-light-horse?start=1 ), if that is the attestation book, is unlike many of the other nominal rolls in that it contains far fewer entries than there were men in the unit. Usually very helpful, for the SALH the nominal roll provides little information.

Number 72 on the SALH nominal roll pertains to Trooper A Levine 157. Completed service ,date recorded 25th February 1901

On this same attestation paper for the SALH is an ink stamp bearing the abbreviation AFA 3091.



This is not a usual stamp for the SALH and while it does need deciphering, does anyone know its meaning?

David - It may be Manufr being an abbreviation for Manufacturer.
