Hi all,

A couple of years ago I presented a public lecture in Bexleyheath Library (London, UK) about how the borough of Bexley was involved in the Boer War. After finishing university, I am now revisiting this topic with the aim to write up my research into a book. I was enquiring whether anyone had any information i.e photographs or primary material, on the area of Bexley, Sidcup, Bexleyheath, Erith, Welling during the war. I would be very grateful.

Thanks

Tanton,

That sounds a great project.

I have been thinking about your request. If you use the Name Search on this site and enter your search terns one by one in the Notes field, you do find some matches. If I search for Bexley, there are four results including one Jameson Raider.

Another avenue would be a chargeable site such as www.britishnewspaperarchive.co.uk/account/subscribe as they might have some local papers you can search. The cost is £13 for one month with the cost reducing for longer subscriptions.

Good luck with your research
