A slight change in the surname, but I'm confident that Gerald Yorke Anstruther served in the Britstown Town Guard as a Quartermaster Sergeant before the M M R.
Also the surname Anstruther is connected to a very historic Scottish family. Not sure if this chap had any connection to them, but if he had, that would have certainly bumped up the price at auction. Also, if the family wanted to bring the QSA home, that would also have impacted on the hammer price.
You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.
Best regards,
Dave

QSA (1) Cape Colony (Lieut. G. S. Robinson. Midland Mtd. Rifles.), erased and officially re-impressed in a slightly later style

M&E say G S Robinson of the Midland Mounted Rifles is confirmed on the medal roll. The roll shows the name ‘Robertson’ struck through, and corrected as above (perhaps accounting for the official erasure), appearing to state ‘issued 7/1/13’.
