I am looking to research the above who started his Army life and went to S Africa

He was awarded the QSA with Clasps, SA 1901/2. CC Transvaal. and relief of Kimberley

He went on to an illustrious career, winning the MC in 1915. I have no knowledge of his early Military service, so would welcome any thoughts or pointers as to where i may investigate further

There is a medal roll on Ancestry that has John Ramsay 1015 recorded as being the rank of Corporal and was part of the 3rd Balloon Section of Royal Engineers relating to the South Africa 1901 clasp. Notes regarding application for Queens South Africa medal mention 9th company R.E
