From what I have been able to glean, BSM Pavey Q Batt RHA was appointed on 31March. I am guessing that as a result of the Absence (wounded - as originally thought but found to have been Taken prisoner) of BSM Cooke. Having said that, is it likely that Cooke would still have been entered into the ballot for the VC or DCM?
I guess timing IS everythin. Could it be that as Cooke was "out of sight, out of mind" that he would not have been included......enquiring minds need to know.
I also note that Cooke's appointment to BSM U Battery RHA is stated as March 31,1900. Is it fair to assume, that as a result of Pavey's appointment on that date to replace Cooke, this date was also used for Cooke's appointment to U Battery, even though he was a POW at the time?
Thanks in advance
