Hi,

I'm hoping that someone who has more experience reading original documents from the era of the SAC can decipher what some of the information I have says.
I found my grandfather Nelson E.M. Henry (Listed Henry NEM) through microfilms on the website: www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/5436...%20History%20Library
Document page 1
I cannot make out the rank of my grandfather as referenced near the top of this page. I also can't make out the Promotion To Rank referenced by his name. As well I'm wondering what the (230) means in this column.
Document page 2
I'm wondering what the (869) (862) (858) might refer to in the Remarks column.
Document page 3
This pic represents what I thought I could read in the document, if you think I've misread any of the information, please let me know.

Any help reading these documents would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Mike,

Thank you very much for your quick reply. I'll look into the Library and Archives site, thanks for that information.

When you list he was mentioned in the Book "No Colours, No Drums" is that where you got the information on his rank? 1st Class Trooper.
Is that all that is mentioned, his name and rank?

On his headstone it says Constable, but I'm guessing that refers to his position, not rank. Headstone reads: Nelson EM Henry - Constable - S.A. Constabulary - 17 Nov 1952 Age 79

Is there somewhere I can find a list of the ranks in order, that were used by the SAC?

Once again thank you for your quick reply and thanks in advance if you can answer my additional questions.
Peter

Hi Peter......

Yes that book has the history of the Canadians in the SAC...... He was a member of "E" Troop and the book will tell what the Troop did more than individuals.....

During the war they were called Troopers and after the war Constables.....

Recruit
3rd Class Trooper (Constable)
2nd Class Trooper (Constable)
1st Class Trooper (Constable)
Corporal
Sergeant
etc......
