There were also, most likely in the absence of any official forms, hand-written "oaths" signed by surrendering Boer combatants. Here is one such example, signed at Bloemfontein on 29 March 1900, two weeks after the capital fell to the British forces. It reads,

"I the undersigned do hereby swear that I will not furnish any member of the Republican Forces with my assistance of any kind nor furnish them with any information regarding the movement etc. of the British Forces and I do further swear that I will remain quiet at my home until the war is over."

Quite naively put if you think about it, but ones' word was one's bond in those days.
