Can I ask for some information about Otto Krantz? In the photos earlier in this thread we see the German Corps under their commander Paul Adolf Krantz. I have come across a mention of Louis Botha declining an invitation to Christmas dinner from Commandant and Mrs. Otto Krantz of the German Corps at Ladysmith. Mrs Krantz was famously photographed as a "woman who fought for the Boers"

So my Q is this: Was Otto Krantz [the big game hunter] also, like Paul Adolf Krantz, a Commandant of the German Corps, and if not, what was Otto's role in the German Corps?
The past is not dead. In fact, it's not even past.

Problem solved. Prof Fransjohan Pretorius has clarified that Commandant Paul Adolf Krantz invited Botha to Christmas dinner.
On the internet there are several erroneous mentions of Otto Krantz commanding the German Corps - he did not. He may have been flamboyant, and his wife photogenic, but he was not an officer in the German Corps.
The error begins with this mention in With the Boer Forces, by Howard C. Hillegas - Ch IX:
"The corps was afterward reorganised and, under the leadership of Commandant Otto Krantz of Pretoria, it fought valiantly in several battles in the Free State."
The past is not dead. In fact, it's not even past.
