In my quest to understand the contribution of the Wiltshire Regiment during the Boer War, I have been looking at the principal medical officer attached to the 2nd Battalion whilst in South Africa, who was Major Thomas Broderick Albert Tuckey RAMC
13 Apr 1858 – 18 July 1933.

I came across a photo album of his online which I have asked David to look at, as the file is too large to add to the forum.

There is a little about Thomas Tuckey online, concerning his later service on Malta. I wondered if anyone knows anything else about him or even where his medals are?

A few more details.

Born in County Cork Munster Ireland April 1858
Parents, Abraham John Tuckey & Mary Christina Lewis.

He married Charlotte Louise Clark in the 2nd quarter of 1895.
He was 37 , Charlotte 22.

1911 Thomas and Charlotte are living at 5 St Oswalds Terrace Fulford York.

He served at York Castle as a Medical officer rank Lieutenant Colonel.
I believe the castle was used as a military prison in 1900 .It closed in 1929. The Victorian prison was demolished almost immediately and no trace of it is visible today.

I have enclosed some documents reference his medal entitlement.
(Sudan, Burma)

ABW medal QSA 3 clasps Cape Colony , Orange Free State plus 1901 date clasp. He was Invalided home in 1901. plus his MID

No reference to any WW1 medals, his card refers to his MID and the LGS ....London Gazette Supplement.

Thomas was a LRCP & LRCS. Licentiate of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons.

His death was recorded as being in 1933 aged 75, where he was residing in Hampshire
