Thank you to everyone who has sourced and provided information to me. Here is a photograph of Major Tuckey taken from the officer group photograph taken outside Maida Barracks, Aldershot on the morning of departure for South Africa.

Officers of the 2nd Battalion Wiltshire Regiment
Photographer: Charles Knight of Aldershot

Photograph taken at Maida Barracks, South Camp, Aldershot on 16 December 1899 prior to the Regiment entraining for Southampton and boarding the troopship “Gascon” bound for South Africa.

I originally posted that this photograph was provided for inclusion in The Transvaal War Album: the British forces in South Africa, edited by Commander C.N. Robinson and published in 1900, but apologies, I was mistaken, it was provided for the book The Transvaal in War and Peace by Neville Edwards. Published in 1900 by H Virtue and Co

Ian, are you able to post the link to Maj. Tuckey's online photo album which you mentioned?
The past is not dead. In fact, it's not even past.

Hi Rob,

I thought you might be interested. I was having troubles posting the large pdf and have asked David to have a look. In the meantime here is the link, it's in the Welcome Collection:

wellcomecollection.org/works/cb7f4x3t

The Transvaal War Album is also there:

wellcomecollection.org/works/kk7c3yfq

I think I'll have to have a proper look around this website to see what else they have.

Rob, included in the album is a document written in Afrikaans which I can't read. Perhaps you can tell us what it relates to?

Ian

Here is the image from The Transvaal in War and Peace by Neville Edwards. Published in 1900 by H Virtue and Co. Note that Lt Wimberley is recorded as Kimberley.
