I appreciate this is a long shot.

I am looking for confirmation that Defence of Mafeking QSAs to Sheasby Senior and Junior were sold some time in 1975.

Any assistance much appreciated.

David
Colin Walker's Siege Register has it that the medals (DofM) of both Sheasbys were sold by Chimperie Jo''berg 1975.

Many thanks, IL.

I would like to verify that, if possible.

Hi David

For your info this medal sold in October 2019, she is mentioned in the Mafeking Mail etc, but I could not find her on the roll.

Many thanks for this, Jon.

She was in Mafeking during the siege but is not on the roll with the other Mafeking nurses. She may have officially started nursing after the siege. In 1901, Dr W Hayes described her, during the siege, as a 'probationer at the Victoria Hospital.'

Attached page from the Pall Mall Gazette of Aug 7, 1900.

Nurse Sheasby gets a passing mention about halfway down article entitled "Nursing in Mafeking" - she obviously had a well functioning digestive tract.
