I saw a QSA come up for auction. I am still new to collecting boer war Medals but haven't found anything about this individual. Also, does the DR mean he was the actual medical doctor for the unit?

As he served in the Army Service Corps, his rank would have been "Driver". The ASC was fundamental to the operations of the army in the field. He would have seen some hard service.
If you go to the Main menu panel and go to Unit Information, you can get to Stirling's comments about the general activities of the ASC in the ABW.

I cannot find any service papers for him, sadly.

Her served with No 41 Company, ASC.

His QSA is verified on WO100/214p145. Rank Corporal Collar Maker.



MacHugh also earned with KSA with 2 clasps (WO100/350p259). His rank on the KSA roll is Saddler Corporal.

It is very common for the QSA and the KSA to become separated.
