A friend has sent me this photograph and is looking for any information on the Boer War service of John Cummings. He came from the Maddiston area near Falkirk, close to Polmont Stirlingshire. Born 1859 father John mother Janet née Thompson.

On the chance that your John Cummings had served in the Imperial Yeomanry, I had a trawl through my useful CD of names for that force. Unfortunately, there was no "J. Cummings" listed. At least under the surname spelling you posted.

Hi Dave thanks for reply. I will ask. I've been looking a bit further into his life but no definite hit on military service.

John Cummings a 21 year old gardener Rumford, Falkirk, married Mary McNeil age 20 of Craigend, Maddiston, on the 31st of December 1880 at Muiravonside Parish Church.

A colliery engineman, he died aged 68 on November the 26th, 1927
