Dear Forum

A clarification request please.

8151 Private Alfred Hallam KRRC.

Am I right in thinking that there was an error on issuing his date clasps?

He has a QSA with Natal, Orange Free State and 1901 & 1902 dates.
He also has a KSA x 2 dates. Should his QSA dates be forfeited and his KSA is correct?

As ever, your help and thoughts will be most appreciated.

Dave.

PS, sorry for the poor quality medal rolls.

Hi Dave,

Yes I think you are correct; the recipient was only awarded the QSA date clasp(s) when they were not eligible for the King's South Africa Medal.

Looks like Pte George Hallam qualified for his KSA and that excluded his award of the 2x QSA date clasps.

Either way it's a unique and scarce combination; nice one.

As a newbie I also stand to be corrected....

Dave,

Agree with Sturgy. He met the criteria for the KSA (ie 18 months of service and serving on 1 Jan 1902).

Many thanks Sturgy & David

Alfred decided to keep all his clasps.
