Hi all,

I am trying to find the cemetery / grave location of my 3rd great-grandfather, Thomas Darby, he died in 1902 in Bloemfontein.

I have the following details:

Name: Thomas Darby (alias C.A. Nicholson)
Rank: Private
No: 3140
Regiment: 2nd Battalion, Worcestershire
Died: 9 July 1902, Bloemfontein

He is referenced as G Darby in the book In In Memoriam by Steve Watt which is a typo on his name. I have not been able to get access or a copy to this book, so not sure if it mentions where he is buried.

Any information would be much appreciated.

Casualty type = "Died" no reference to disease.
Date of death:09/07/1902
Monument 1.
Religion Church of England

Monument 1 means the first panel on the British monument. There is no longer a cemetery but the monument stands in Waverley Road, Bloemfontein.
See a photo of the monument. Panel 1 is not clear at the bottom but his name should appear there.
