Dear forummers,
alongside my colleague Prof Rita Barnard, I am embarking on a project to translate, update, and re-publish Dr Johan Barnard's 1969 book "Generaal Louis Botha op die Natalse Front 1899-1900".

The original book was 225 pages long, and had 10 pages of photographs and 10 maps. The Afrikaans-English translation is going to be led by Prof Rita Barnard, and I intend to expand the number and scope of of photographs considerably, and update the maps.

So my request is whether any forummer has any interesting photographs related to Louis Botha or other Boer notables which we could use in the book?
The past is not dead. In fact, it's not even past.

This large (9 x 11 inch) photographic reproduction of a painting of Botha at Ladysmith unexpectedly turned up on the back of an album leaf, purchased as a print of the British ambulance train at Modder River.
Copies were seemingly sold by G. Budricks, photographer, 28 Church Street, Cape Town.

Apparently based on one of van Hoepen's images from the Lucas Meyer / Botha / Erasmus photo shoot.

Kommandant Generaal Louis Botha / Herinnering aan de Slaagt bj Ladysmith / Anglo-Boer Oorlog 1899-1900.
