I am trying to locate a service record for a RDF soldier. I have tried FMP with no success. I have located his QSA clasp awards on the Nat archives site.
Can anyone assist? do records exist for the RDF on other sites??
For the record the soldiers name is E Daly his number is 4936.

I had a look on Ancestry, FMP and Fold3. it appears that his record may not have survived, but others can confirm when they come along.

Regards

Simon

Thanks Simon, I was not sure if different sites had additional access to records, as I said I found his clasp records on Nat. Arch. I was not sure if there were paper copies of records that had not been put on line yet.
thanks again for taking the time to look.

Hello Jack

I have had a good trawl through the papers looking for your man.
Unfortunately, as Simon (Bicolboy59) has already mentioned, no luck on 4936 E Daly. I found a 4956 J Daly, sometimes the 5 and 3 can be misread or an initial can be missing. Alas, on this occasion it was correct and 4956 J Daly never served in South Africa. All I can add is your man served in the 2nd Battalion RDF. He was a Sergeant. His service number suggests he joined the colours in March 1893. He received a 6 clasp QSA and a KSA. Present at Talana, Tugela and Relief of Ladysmith. I also searched under Daily, Dale and Daley. No WW1 pension details either.

Best wishes

Dave......

Thanks for looking Dave. Looks like his only record is the clasps in the National archives.

His clasp and medal entitlement are on Ancestry and FMP
