Good Morning Everyone.......

There has been just published a Very Good reference book on the Yukon Field Force, 1898-1900......

It is the story of a very little-known Canadian military expedition.....

It is the story, nominal rolls and in many cases photographs of the members who served in the Yukon, including Diaries......

In this book are the stories of many Officers and Men of The Royal Canadian Regiment who went on to serve in South Africa, World War One and a couple in World War Two...... (There is even one who served in Africa getting the BSAC Medal).....

Very profusely illustrated with period Black and White Photographs and a number of Colour Photographs of medal groups that still exist.....

A great book for the collector of Canadiana and Military History......

Thank you Mike, that is good to know.

The Canadian side of my family was involved in the Yukon operations.

Hi Neville, I like your photo of the NWMP. You had relations who were in the Yukon back then ?

Yes, Superintendent (subsequently Major) Charles Constantine is a distant cousin of mine (1st cousin 4x removed). My grandfather used to correspond with his son, Maj.-Gen. Charles Francis Constantine, in the ealy 1950s.

"Charlie, a superintendent officer of the Canadian Mounted Police, in 1894 was sent with his wife to Klondike with 20 Mounted Police to guard the gold diggers. Was there 4 years - on leaving was presented with £200 of gold nuggets".

He built the first N.W.M.P. Yukon post (Fort Constantine) in 1895.
