Hello to everyone in this forum, I'm a new user that's taken an interest in Second Boer War recently. And I want to make some inquiries about the maps.

I've come across History of the war in South Africa, 1899-1902 by General John Frederick Maurice that was published in 1906 recently. And as far as I know, the four volumes of this book series each contains a collection of highly detailed maps. While I do find digitized copies of these maps on Internet Archive, they were uploaded long ago, and are of poor quality. The same book from other sources proved to be of extreme quality as well.

I wonder if anyone has digitized copies of these maps that are of higher quality? I'll attach the digitized copies of maps I've found on Internet Archive

Volume 1's Map: archive.org/details/historyofwarinso01grea/mode/2up
Volume 2's Map: archive.org/details/historyofwarinso02grea/mode/2up
Volume 3's Map: archive.org/details/historyofwarinso03grea/mode/2up
Volume 4's Map: archive.org/details/historyofwarinso04grea/mode/2up

MR, welcome to the forum, I hope you'll stay and contribute plenty!
As far as I know, the maps in Maurice's " Official History" are by far the most accurate, and the online sources you give seem to be the best resolution free copies available to date. The Naval and Military Press did a facsimile edition a few years back but the resolution of the originals is better.
Amery's "Times History"is also available online and has maps which are good but there are some errors.
Chris Ash did a book of maps recently, which are taken from Maurice, but personally I don't think much of it.

Thank you very much for answering Rob! And thank you for recommending maps from other sources!

Indeed, the maps in Maurice's Offical History are of best quality. Too bad we don't have the version of higher resolution available.

Dear Mike:

Thank you very much for answering my question! The maps in Maurice’s version of history are indeed of extremely high quality. I’ve checked with my local libraries here in south Australia and confirmed that there were 4 volumes of Maurice’s history(as well as maps)in their collection. Sadly, the books and maps can only be read in their reading room. I think I’ll try my luck with the library real soon. And thank you again for answering my question!

If I could find a place where I could get such a LARGE piece of paper photocopied I would do so, that is without having to scotch tape pieces together. And that would also be at a reasonable price......
