Dear Fellow Forummers.

I need a little help regarding CSM James Gilmour.
I have most of his military career researched and his immediate family. However, I would be grateful for any information pertaining to his whereabouts after WW1. He was born in 1880 in Stranraer Wigtown Scotland. During his military service he married Susan (Patterson / Patton) Blyth. Any details of his time after 1920 and his date of death would be most appreciated.

Dave - James Gilmour born in New Luce, Wigtownshire with wife Susan P & daughter Elizabeth P can be found on the 1921 Census living at 96 Great Hampton Row, Birmingham. New Luce is about 8 miles NE of Stranraer. He gave his age as 43 years and 0 months meaning, as the 1921 Census was carried out in the middle of June, he was born in May or June 1878. The information given for Elizabeth fits exactly with info given on WW1 records and I found the 1921 return by looking for Elizabeth. In 1921 James gave his occupation as "Cycle Agent", working on his own account at home. I cannot find any of them on the 1939 Register although Elizabeth might have married by then.

Regards, David.

Hello David
That's my man for sure. Thank you for the additional information. Very much appreciated. I have had this chaps medals for over 2 years now and on revisiting the research I failed miserably on finding out where he went after leaving the army. Thanks again.

Best regards
