In the past, the service records for people who served in the Boer War were sometimes available in the WO97 section at the National Archives.

The documents are still available for searching in the NA reading Room and are now available via subscription to Find My Past. www.findmypast.co.uk/chelsea-pensioners-...-search-start.action

There is a description of the service records on the Find My Past page.

In terms of numbers of records, the files applicable to Boer War service are split across two sections:

WO97 1883-1900 Records: 312,921 Images: 2,218,687
WO97 1901-1913 Records: 341,888 Images: 1,928,868
WO97 misfiles 1801-1912 Records: 7,247 Images: 44,130

Note that anyone who continued to serve in the Great War will not have any service papers in WO97. Similarly, as WO97 lists those people who received an Army pension, wnyone who took an early discharge or who died would not have papers in this series.
