Hi Paul

Congratulations on your acquisition. There was only one Vallender serving in the entire Boer War and it's your man! His QSA is a good one as well - to Bethune's and with clasps CC; OFS; Tvl; Tugela Heights; Relief of Ladysmith and Laings Nek.

In addition, there is further hope for you with 41 recipients to that surname in WWI. :)

Yes its a fairly unique surname (good for research!)
I have researched the WW1 records, if I remember correctly one Grandfather and four Great Uncles and all I have are photographs of my Grandfather, no medals.
I am hoping that one day I will be able to reunite Frederick's QSA and KSA though I think I will need an awful lot of luck.
