Here is the naming on the medal in question - it was on eBay recently:

Preliminary research has established he was the only minister of religion in the British forces to be a casualty of enemy action - 25 May, 1901 at Mooifontein. There is some good stuff in the newspaper archives on him and a picture on Ancestry. Wits University also holds letters and papers relating to his time in the war.
