Hello and Help

I am in the process of conducting research on 2 Colonial units who took part in the ABW. With reference to the Kimberley Regiment I am particularly interested in hearing from anyone who has information on the activities/engagements and movements of this unit from February 1900 to the end of the Boer War. I am specifically interested in the dismounted "right wing" of the Kimberley Regiment (i.e A, B, C, D and E companies formerly known as the Kimberley Rifles). Also is anyone aware of the the existence of attestation papers for the Kimberley Regiment? For the Johannesburg Mounted Rifles again any information on it's activities/engagements and movements would be most welcome. In fact any snippet of info relating to the JMR up to it's disbandment in 1906 would be welcome. Many Thanks.

Jones,

At the National Archives in London, there are no attestation papers for the Kimberley Regiment. I think I recall seeing some muster rolls at the McGregor Museum in Kimberley though.

There are 7 boxes of attestation papers for the JMR at the NA, in WO126/67-73.

I'm not aware of any histories of the JMR.
