Frank's earlier comments about the FID led me to start reading through the roll from the start. On page 4 there is a form I don't recall having seen before called a Certificate re Medal Clasps.

Has anyone else come across this form before?

I wondered if they are for ad hoc or later requests for clasps?

I could imagine these being used to make up and name the medal perhaps?

Perhaps these certificates are rare because they ended up in the medal-issuing office and were binned after the clasps were added to the medals.

Morning Brett,

It would be nice to know more about the processes used to name the medals. Other than the Mint receiving copied medal rolls, I am still unsure how they reconciled duplicated names across the rolls. I think this points to more time being needed at the NA for further investigation.

You could imagine the scenario where one of these certificates was used as a work instruction to someone to make up or name the medal.

Best wishes
David
