A photograph appeared on an auction site today. It is not named but the reverse inscription suggests it is from someone called Alex.

The man in the photo is wearing a DSM and 5 clasp QSA.

It should be possible to identify this person?

Looking at the RN rolls ..

HMS Doris. 16 5 clasps medals. AB A Moore and Pte A Booth
HMS Forte. 23 5 clasps medals. AB A Coote, LS A T Course
HMS Monarch. 18 5 clasp medals. Sgt A Carter
HMS Philomel. 24 5 clasps medals. Arm A Forsey, Carp A Goddard, Lt A Halsey
HMS Powerful. 19 5 clasps medals. AB A E Day, AB A E Ingersoll, AB A C Saunders
HMS Tartar. 18 5 clasp medals. Ch PO A L Munro
HMS Terrible. 1 5 Clasp medal. This man doesn't have the initial A

He could be one of these men?

This presumes he continually served in the RN and didn't join the senior service for the Great War. How safe a presumption is this?

Regards
David
