Hi,
Looking at the excellent Nominal Roll images available for the various irregular corps, I have a question regarding the column to the left of the spine. It relates to the KSA, in that it is annotated 'KM' if the chap is entitled. I just wonder what 'KCR' with box around it means, or '00', which is occasionally seen (see attached).

Cheers
Phil

Hello Phil,

I think the abbreviations in the margin mean:

00 - Served until 1900 in that unit
KCR - eligible for SA01 or SA02. Something like 'King's Clasps Required'
KM = King's Medal ie KSA

In the example you gave J A Homles left Tucker's Scouts and served in the CinC BodyGuard and was KIA in 1901. His SA01 clasp is listed on WO100/243p142 and hence, I think, the KCR against his name.

Best wishes
David

Hi David,

Thanks for that - your explanation matches up with the chaps I've checked. Great stuff!

Cheers
