This is interesting! This post card shows Transport 13 Palitana. Printed on the back is the caption "Troopship leaving Bombay Harbour". Palitana sailed from Bombay on 23rd September 1899 carrying 2nd Bttn. Gordon Highlanders and this is probably that departure. However troopship 13 was Soudan in July 1902 when she sailed from Rl. Albert Dock carrying 1532 officers and men and 6 horses. It would appear this number was used twice, albeit just before and just after the war. As no other ship sailed from the UK using 13 during the war, I suspect that transports from India used a different number set.
