Has anybody any ideas where I might find similar photographs to the one below. This one looks like press photo to me. Taken in Pietermaritzburg in 1947. The presentees are Boer War Veterans.

Looking for Salutries, Salootries and Veterinary Duffadars.
I collect primarily QSAs to Indian Recipients.

I have photocopies of two similar photographs, which I believe were from the 'Natal Witness. One shows the King shaking hands with a blind ex-serviceman and the other of the King talking to Arthur Edwin Cook, whose medals I have in my collection (see below). I will send you scans if you want them.

I should remember the date(s)of the Royal Visit to Pietermaritzburg in 1947, because I was one of the children in Alexandra Park waving a Union Jack at them, but now I would need Google to provide the answer.

Regards
Brett

I should have mentioned that in keeping with South Africa's Colonial past, your photograph of the Indian veterans and mine of White ones were not taken at the same place. The White veterans were assembled in front of the City Hall, whereas the Indians were in a wide open space elsewhere. 'Apartheid' ruled even before it became an official policy after 1948.

Then I will let you off the hook! I was going to berate you for failing to negotiate for his bronze medal and his service details.
