Hello David,

Whilst researching family history I came across a memorial to a soldier who died in the Boer war. As I was later in the same regiment I decided to research him.

2677 Private Frederick Wilson Hackforth 8 Bn, 23 Coy, IY
He died 30 May 1900 at Fabers Spruit, Douglas, SA

In the records you have his surname as HackWorth. I have checked census and GRO birth records and it is definitely Hackforth.
Name: Frederick Wilson Hackforth
Date of Registration: Jul-Aug-Sep 1873
Registration district: Chorley
Inferred County: Lancashire
Volume: 8e

Dloy,

Thank you very much for this correction. I have made the change to his entry in the register of names.

With thanks again
David
