Sir Edward Seymour, a member of a well established and noble if not already famous family was born at Betchworth in Surrey 10 Feb. 1877, a son to Lieut. Colonel Leopold Richard Seymour who was born in Belgium and resided at 95 Piccadilly London and his wife Mary Green Hubbard Seymour, nee Sturgis of Marylebone London. Educated at Eton, having graduated he first served with the 4th Battalion East Surrey Regiment 30 Jan. 1895 prior to entered the Grenadier Guards as Second Lieutenant 28 July 1897 and served with his regiment on the Nile Expedition 1898 and the battle of Khartoum. Served with distinction during the Boer war being Wounded in Action at Senekal 29 May 1900, appointed an MVO 19 March 1901 and Mentioned in Lord Roberts Despatch 4 Sept. 1901.. Promoted Captain Grenadier Guards 15 June 1904, he resigned his commission 13 May 1908, and appointed Comptroller to HRH The Duchess of Albany later that same year on 6 Nov. At the 1911 Coronation he carried HRH The Duchess of Albany's Coronet. He was recalled from the Reserve of Officers 19 Aug. 1914 and appointed Brigade Major 28 Dec. 1914. He served in France from 6 Nov. 1915. Mentioned in Despatches 15 June 1916, and awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal 1 Jan. 1917, and further Mentioned in Despatches 4 Jan. 1917. Promoted to Temporary Major (Guards) 25 Feb. 1918 and Major (established) 20 April 1919, and created an OBE 3 June 1919. Appointed Equerry to Her Majesty Queen Alexandra 1 Jan. 1923 and appointed a CVO 26 Nov. 1925. Appointed to the office of Comptroller to Her Royal Highness Princess Victoria 1 Dec. 1925 and created a KCVO 1 Jan. 1934. Appointed an Extra Equerry to His Majesty The King 1 March 1937 to 1948.
Group comes with all London Gazette entry pages, roll entry pages MIC and much more besides. He gave his address as Broom Hill, Esher in Surrey. Mounted to a high professional standard, and while for taking the picture have been removed from their glass frame are an excellent E.F. to almost MINT - truly stunning. Group has been removed from the frame for bank deposit. Due to the frame and size this group cannot be posted.

Sir Edward Seymour married Lady Blanche Francis nee Conyngham 29 July 1905 at St. George, Hannover Square Mayfair London. Lady Blanche was born on 10 March 1884 in London. Sir Edward on 28 February 1948 and Lady Blanche on 11 Feb. 1956. They had two children: Verena Mary Doyne Seymour on 24 May 1906 in Dublin, Ireland and died on 2 July 1979. Also a son, John Edward who was born in Kingston-on-Thames 18 Oct. 1915 who served with his regiment during World War II retiring with his battle rank of Major, he died on 16 March 1972.
