Hi All ,
I have been searching for a place to stick up this post but was not quite sure where ?
Perhaps this is the correct place ? Although the post covers quite a few different but related areas of interest
1.) There is a new book out about the original Emily Hobhouse
"The Compassionate Englishwoman Emily Hobhouse in the Boer War"
Author Robert Eales
www.roberteales.com.au/hobhouse_6.html
I was wondering if anyone here had read / reviewed the book ?
2.) In connection with the camps there is a publication by an A.H. Crosfield -- "The True causes of and the false excuses for the war in South Africa"
I have found copies in two places in South Africa -- National Library of South Africa & Stellenbosch University Library and Information Services
The publication appears to be a "pamphlet" produced by the Manchester National Reform Union.
After some Googling it would appear that the same Arthur Crosfield ( prospective liberal candidate for Warrington [Cheshire] sent some letters to Churchill ?
As Crosfield and his pamphlet are often quoted I would like to know more about A.H. Crosfield / the Manchester National Reform Union and what their interest in the ABW was ?
and
How accurate / objective his work ( agitation ) was
Most grateful to anyone that can shed light on these questions.
