So simple. Having bought many groups and medals this year ranging from Tibet, India and South Africa and on theme to veterinary units the stand out medal was the King's to Risaldar Haji Mahomed Suleman Bahadur, O.B.I. The subject of my avatar. www.angloboerwar.com/forum/search?query=...te=all&childforums=1

The King's turned up at Liverpool in February and its been a fantastic year since. I first read his story in the Journal of the Royal Army Veterinary Corps some 25 years ago.
Looking for Salutries, Salootries and Veterinary Duffadars.
I collect primarily QSAs to Indian Recipients.

Hi Gents,

A great question to ponder and a good way to remind oneself of some wonderful finds throughout the year.

I must confess it's been a fortunate year on the collecting front, so quite difficult to pic one. However one that stands out and for good reason is my Lee-Speed No1 by William Evans which I grabbed at the Las Vegas antique arms show back in January (photo attached). However I must give a shout out to an incredibly rare find that I'm waiting to arrive as we speak - that of an early Wilkinson compass. The pattern of which I have only seen in their catalogue and never seen or heard of an example in the flesh, so can't wait to get my hands on it and will update when it's here.

Cheerio,

Roy

Collecting/wanted ABW insignia if anyone has some spares?

Not easy to choose from:

QSA to a Pte West India Regiment
QSA to 1st Life Guards for the Relief of Ladysmith
QSA (silver) to Indian Pack Mule Train (Defence of Ladysmith)
Mediterranean and BWM pair

..but the best has to be the QSA to Lt GTW Webb RGA - I did all the research and published it on my blog never expecting the medal to turn up which it did.

I had to choose from three groups, two to the Border Mounted Rifles, and one to the Umvoti Mounted Rifles. I settled on the latter because of the man's rank (Colonel) and his long service.
