Not a great medal fair, but I did get a pair to Pte PR Winteborn 19th Hussars POW Zandsrpuit 18 June 1900, one of eight captured there - returning from patrol were surrounded and cam under heavy fire, five horses were killed and wounded.

A medal that has taught me something in a short space of time. His clasp combination is OFS,T,LN, so not in the Defence of Ladysmith with the regiment. His papers show he was a reservist and arrived in SA December 1899 with the 13th Hussars. As he did not get TH and/or RoL then he must have been in a depot or remount farm. Papers do not show when he joined the 19th Hussars, but presumably this was after the relief of Ladysmith.

To boot the medal was £60 cheaper than when last sold in 2012.

Very nice to see the raised date QSA being offered by Liverpool Medals: www.liverpoolmedals.com/Queen-s-South-Africa-J4657.html

I am glad to see you managed to find a least one medal in the room, Meurig, you certainly did better than me.

Frank,

I know what you mean. When I first entered the building and saw the small area occupied by the Convention, I was disappointed too.

Perhaps DNW taking over the Britannia fair and offering free tables to dealers will encourage greater participation?

I hope so to David, but I have been waiting over two weeks for answer from DNW regarding a table at Britannia, the chaser email has been ignored as well.
