I was moved by the attached sketch and description about Private Joseph Hinton, RAMC, who nursed patients with enteric [typhoid] fever and succumbed to typhoid himself.
however, I can't find him in the name search on this site - was his name changed for the papers?
The past is not dead. In fact, it's not even past.

Medal Roll , clasp Cape Colony
Died 7th March 1900
Medal roll dated 7th August 1901 Kroonstad.
Number 3 General Hospital.
Commemorated on the 1899-1902 Memorial Kimberley West End Cemetery. I think he may be buried there.

SAFF Records Private Hinton 11260 RAMC died of disease. March 7th 1900. Location - Orange River
