There is one of the things that makes me upset with regards our favorite auction site...... Today I went in to see what had been listed under Boer War and I found 4 and a half pages of about 1,080 listings for pages taken out of magazines and books..... Each page from $94.00 to $45.00 Cdn. or I will admit best offer..... I would only offer less than 10 cents a sheet as I cannot see why a person would take apart these magazines, I would pay for the WHOLE magazine rather than single pages..... Maybe I am being too critical but I just dislike this practice..... Rant Over now to go get my morning coffee.....

This has been annoying me for years, and seems to be getting progressively worse.

The worrying thing is that people out there must be buying these scraps, otherwise surely the sellers would have given up trying to peddle such stuff years ago.

Many would agree with you, Mike.

I strongly dislike seeing those individual pages and fear their number, cost and specificity will mean that many will not sell and will be destroyed in the future.

Books should be kept together in my view.

Mike, Neville I contacted the unnamed website about these ghastly category cloggers. Having to wade through 1000's of listings offering valueless crap in the hope that one unsuspecting alcoholised night visitor presses "buy me now" in error. Apparently the website can't do anything about this although there seems to be a way to block offers from certain sellers. The other irritation is shill bidding, i.e. the seller using other accounts to push prices up. They are usually rather easy to spot when looking at bidder's profile. Any bid with 100% bid activity with a single seller often is a sign something is wrong. Lastly, there are sellers who use "shipping issues" to push the "delivery date"past the 60 days in which feedback can be given. The item never arrives with all the subsequent hassles of trying to get your money back and the crook seller still features a 100% satisfaction feedback.
