TOPIC:

On the 5th of May 1916 Major John MacBride was executed by firing squad at Kilmainham Gaol, Dublin.
Major John MacBride formed the Irish Transvaal Brigade and fought alongside Boer forces.
MacBride was executed as one of leader of the 1916 Easter Rising but it was more likely revenge for his actions in South Africa.

My great great granduncle, Sergeant Joe Wade, was named by him as one of the organiser of the Irish Transvaal Brigade and was a bitterender.
