We have a couple of options to do this here. One is to use the Name Search to look for surnames and the other is to post a request to the thread into the Research and Genealogy | Missing Medals / Medals Wanted.

It was just an idea but I think the name search as you have stated is the best...... In the Research section people can put in a request individually and then have it show up there......
